2 High 2 Die: Danny Brown and Action Bronson live

Two of the most notorious names in hip hop are heading out on the road for the 2 High 2 Die tour.  Danny Brown and Action Bronson will be starting out in San Bernadino, California at Rock The Bells and ending in East Rutherford, New Jersey at another of the festival tours stops.  October first will see the unstoppable duo performing in Toronto at the Danforth Music Hall.

'Old' is the upcoming album from Danny Brown.  It was anticipated that the record would be released in August, but instead fans were treated to a tweet from Danny Brown stating that the label behind it Fool's Gold was taking too long to release it and that he'd leak it.  Fool's Gold has since announced the album will be released in October, and that there is a new video on the way soon.  There's also a documentary circulating the internet. '12:12:08' follows the MC around Detroit as he's working on a performance with the band Gorilla Funk Mob.

Action Bronson's latest release is 'Saaab Stories' an EP produced by Harry Fraud.  It features the track 'Strictly 4 My Jeeps'.  You know the track, RiFF RAFF guest stars in the video alongside a cartwheeling, dice rolling Bronson.  'Saaab Stories' also features the vocal talents of Wiz Khalifa and Prodigy of Mobb Deep.

These two acts on the road together promises a show that is out of this world.  The two seem to find themselves in the middle of controversy now and then, and putting them together is sure to create and incredible party based on some of the dopest hip hop out there today.  Check out '1Train' the A$AP Rocky tune that features both Action Bronson and Danny Brown alongside Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Kendrick Lamar, and Big K.R.I.T.

Get your tickets, including the options for meet and greets with Danny Brown or Action Bronson right here.  If you plan to go, don't hesitate.  This will sell out and get crazy.

In a recent announcement Embrace let the world know that Trash Talk will be on the bill as well.  It just gets better!

The Grove Fest Preview I: Phoenix

This week we're gearing up for an event that we've been looking forward to for some time.  Toronto's Fort York has proved to be an amazing venue for live music, and the Grove Festival this coming Saturday will likely be the ultimate reason to check it out.  Music luminaries Goldenvoice (The company behind Coachella and so much more) and Arts and Crafts (Toronto based label and management company) have teamed up to put on a show with a beautifully eclectic lineup.

Today we want to talk a bit about the headliner: Phoenix.  You can catch them at the Grove right in between headline sets at Lollapalooza in Chicago and Osheaga in Montreal.  So far 2013 has been a big year for the band that started to take shape back in 1995.  They released their fifth studio album 'Bankrupt!' to wide acclaim and popularity in April, and the record has spawned a couple of incredibly infectious hits, and those have led to tons of astounding remixes.

You might recall 'Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix' their 2009 album that helped propel them to international renown.  It featured songs like 'Listomania' and 'Girlfriend' and led them to such popularity that they headlined festivals like Lollapalooza in 2010.  What some people may not realize is that Phoenix had three albums prior to gaining such notoriety.  In 2000 they released 'United' 2004 'Alphabetical' and in 2006 'It's Never Been Like That'.  Each album has shown fans a new side of the band, and been something of an exploration of new sounds and styles.

Simon White, Phoenix' manager has said on the Tall Tales podcast that when 'Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix' was recorded that it was not easy to find a home to release the record.  Following it's release it swiftly became the band's most successful release and spread their music worldwide.  'Bankrupt!' expands on the brilliance of the albums before it, and having seen Phoenix live before we will continue to recommend checking them our for yourself and absolutely do not miss them live if you have the chance.

Get your tickets for the Grove Festival if you don't have them already!
