Wafia presents 'I'm Good'

Wafia has just released her new single 'I'm Good', and announced her upcoming tour.  This is a big one, taking her from Australia, the UK, Europe, and North America.  We're looking forward to her show in Toronto at the Garrison.  The last time we saw her perform was at the Opera House with Ta-Ku, and that was an unforgettable night.  The prospect of another live show, with her new music like 'I'm Good' is a really exciting one.  Wafia has an incredible voice, and she's a brilliant songwriter.  Take a listen to 'I'm Good' below, and get tickets to see her live here.

Preview: Bonobo Live at Hamilton's Royal Botanical Gardens

Every once in a while a show comes along that is clearly unmissable from the moment you hear about it.  It's a mysterious thing because the reasons might not always be clear, though you know you absolutely need to be there.  The grand finale of Bonobo's Migration tour is one of those shows, bringing his headline tour to a close in Hamilton, Ontario.  The venue is the Raspberry Farms at the Royal Botanical Gardens, already one of the regions most vibrant and compelling tourist destinations and a beautiful setting for a show like this.

Migration was released January 13th, 2017 on Ninja Tune, and it quickly established itself as one of the top albums of the year.  It reached the top 5 on the UK album chart, the top 10 in Canada, as well as reaching the number 1 spot on the US electronic album chart.  In November of 2017 it was nominated for a Grammy for best dance/electronic album.  While these accomplishments are all extremely impressive, and show the increasing reach Bonobo's music has throughout the world they don't really illustrate the most powerful aspect of this music.

You can feel it the first time you hear the single 'Bambro Koyo Ganda' with Innov Gnawa, and you'll really feel it if you immerse yourself in the album from beginning to end.  Within these songs there is a sense of change, just like in people and places.  A sense of wonder if home is where you're from or where you are.  It's the notion that every life is connected and that through the movement of migration we can all grow and evolve.

Being a part of such a big show as this one on July 7th, for an album as vital as Migration from an artist as inspiring and innovative as Bonobo is an invitation that is too good to pass up.  Don't let this be the one you regret missing, get your tickets here and listen to Migration below.

Soundset 2018 Lineup Revealed!

The lineup for Soundset 2018 is here!   Rhymesayers bring you one of the dopest hip hop music festivals around.  May 27th 2018 the Minnesota State Fairgrounds host a day long event that follows last year's 10th anniversary.  Attendance last year was clocked in at about 35,000 and this year's lineup promises to be just as big if not bigger.  Soundset often defies predictions and patterns with the artists they book, and this year is no different, with artists like Logic and Migos holding it down with Rhymesayers legends Atmosphere, and long time heroes like the Wu-Tang Clan (celebrating the 25th anniversary of Enter the 36 Chambers), Hieroglyphics, and Erykah Badu.

Get your tickets here, they go on sale March 2nd at 12 pm EST.

YehMe2 Live in Toronto!

It seems fitting that YehMe2 plays his first solo Toronto show on Friday the 13th.  We've been waiting for this one for a long time, and it's not like this is the first time we've seen him live in Toronto.  Formerly one half of Flosstradamus, Josh Young tore up Fort York for a Mad Decent Block Party, The Bass Tent at Digital Dreams, and Danforth Music Hall.  YehMe2 is a project he started by challenging himself to make a beat a day, leading to his Steal This Mixtape.  This summer he embarked on a similar challenge leading to STMT2, and then came rumours of a tour.

YehMe2 recently took to Australia for a short tour, and performed in New York along side Troyboi.  The photo above comes from that show, taken by Maximilian Hontz.  There's an incredible feeling of positive energy that comes through from his music, and that is clearly amplified live.  You can get tickets to see him live on Friday, October 13th at the Velvet Underground hereClick here to check out Steal This Mixtape 2, and check the links to more YehMe2 online below!

Dan Luke and the Raid: 'Black Cat Heavy Metal'

Somehow Dan Luke and the Raid have managed to book two tours with only one single out.  Then again, once you hear 'Black Cat Heavy Metal' you'll start to understand just how that happened.  The music has been called simultaneously 'retro and futuristic'.  It's a sound that's tough to pin down, but stretches across countless styles and genres, but don't think too hard about it.  You'll miss out on the fun.  They hit the road this week, starting tomorrow in Chicago before landing in Toronto at the Mod Club on August 11th with Declan McKenna.  In the fall they head back out again with The Weeks.
