Nick Hook: 'Like Water'

Nick Hook's new album Like Water came out of nowhere.  Earlier this week Hook dropped the record on Calm + Collect a label partly of his own creation that's being rejuvenated.  The record is a refreshing collection of tracks that defy expectation.  Nick Hook brings the innovative perspective that has always made his music so fascinating.  These tracks feel a whole lot different than those of Relationships, his most recent album on Fool's Gold Records.  The title alludes to way the album flows, as though it's always moving, and adapting.  Perhaps that's some of what Nick Hook is trying to impart with this music.  As always it will take repeat listens to really grasp just what he's doing here.

Get Like Water now!

VIDEO: Nick Hook & DJ Earl 'Mood Right Now'

Nick Hook and DJ Earl dropped a really dope album in 50 Backwoods.  Fool's Gold brings you yet another gem in the form of this collaboration between two wildly innovative, irreverent artists.  This project puts DJ Earl in the vocal booth for the first tie as well, including on this track 'Mood Right Know'.  The video is directed by WEIRDDANE and takes you from Chicago to Nick Hook's Brooklyn studio where the album came to life.  Check the video below and get into 50 Backwoods here!

DJ Earl & Nick Hook ft. Wiki: 'Hook Chop'

This combination is a bit too good to be true.  DJ Earl and Nick Hook have gotten together to create an album entitled 50 Backwoods, and it's coming in December from none other than Fool's Gold Records.  We caught word of this record a little while ago and now we are excited to share the first single.  'Hook Chop' puts the two producers in the studio with Wiki, and the results are mindblowing.  It's no surprise that to fully grasp this music you'll need to open your mind to new possibilities.

Nick Hook ft. Bunji Garlin & Fatman Scoop: 'Follow That Money'

'Follow That Money' is the future.  Fatman Scoop does his thing, Bunji Garlin takes over the track that is classic Nick Hook in the sense that it sounds like it came from the future.  The song comes from the Adult Swim singles series, a project that enlists some of the most creative, irreverent artists of our time and invites them to do their thing.  The beat is a noisy electronic dance hall flavour that we've certainly never heard before, and few could dream up and then execute like Nick Hook.  Bunji Garlin and Fatman Scoop both have such iconic yet complimentary voices, the pair are free to do their thing in ways we've never heard before over such a dynamic, intense piece of music.

We've got nothing but love for all of 'em, AND make sure you check the rest of the Adult Swim singles series here!

VIDEO: Nick Hook ft. Spank Rock 'Another Way'

Nick Hook released one of the dopest albums we've heard in a long time.  Relationships is a powerfully eclectic, emotional record, and he's just released a new video for one of the most exciting collaborations on it.  Spank Rock joins the New York producer on a tune that could only come from the spirited collaboration of such boldly creative artists.  The video is directed by Nicholas Barat (Fools Gold Records co-founder and DJ Nick Catchdubs) and styled by Kerin Rose Gold.
