Warpaint @ Paléo Festival (2012)

Warpaint opened their set at the 2012 edition of the Paléo festival with a new song.  It's safe to say that the audience at L'Asse, Nyon, Switzerland hadn't heard "Keep It Healthy" before that set July 18th.  Check it out for yourselves, and check the set list right here.

Preview: Elliot Maginot at the Drake Underground Tomorrow!

The Montreal artist known as Elliot Maginot is bringing his one of a kind performance to London and Toronto.  Tonight he performs at the legendary APK in London, a venue that has always been on the cutting edge for bringing creatively selected events to the forest city. Tomorrow night his tour with Ian Kelly visits one of our favourite venues in Toronto, the intimate Drake Hotel.  Following the release of his "Young/Old/Everything.In.Between" he's delivered the magical single "Monsters At War".  With the influence of artists like Nick Drake and Bob Dylan, and his own unique, individual contribution to the storied history of storytellers carrying only their guitar and their tales, he's reinventing his identity as a man and a musician.

With this new work we get a glimpse at the evolution of an incredibly talented artist.  There's a tangible excitement following the release of the video for "Monsters At War", where Elliot's listeners patiently await what comes next.  Tickets for the London show are available at the door, and tickets for Tuesday, March 17th at the Drake Hotel here!

Preview: Giraffage LIVE at Coda 2/6

The Giraffage 'No Reason' tour begins tonight.  It may commence in Atlanta, Georgia but in two short weeks it'll find it's way to Canada and inevitably to renowed night club Coda in Toronto.  Giraffage just released 'No Reason' to immediate succes, almost immediately landing near the top spot on the iTunes Electronic chart.  He's fresh off a tour with Porter Robinson, who's just taken a bold new direction himself. It's really no surprise that the two toured together and should be proof that Giraffage is a vital part of an exciting new movement in music.

The 'No Reason' tour doesn't offer a Giraffage dj set.  On this journey he's debutting a live show, and the details of it still remain a mystery.  That makes this new form of making the music all the more exciting.  February 6th is the date of the Coda show in Toronto. Get your tickets now and take a listen to 'No Reason' and you'll see what we mean.  Giraffage is on point with his own unique brand of cool, soulful electronic music.

Preview: Destructo and Anna Lunoe LIVE!

This weekend the famed Ship2Ship tour hits Ontario.  Between Holy Ship adventures the dance music luminary Destructo is bringing a brilliant show all over, and we're lucky enough to catch it.  Friday, January 16th the Hoxton in Toronto plays host to the tour, and on Saturday, January 17th London Music Hall welcomes Destructo and friends.

Along with him comes Anna Lunoe, Motez, and T. Williams.  This is an exciting lineup, one that represents good taste, and positive energy to those in the know.  In addition our long time friend Cosella will be performing at the Hoxton as well.  This is a unique show, one that embraces a side of dance music that may not headline arenas, but really does feel so good.  Get your tickets for the Toronto show here, and for the London show here, and we'll see you there!

Preview: Alvin Risk brings 'Venture' to the Hoxton 1/22

Alvin Risk's 'Venture' caught us by surprise.  It's one of the more ethereal, and deep electronic projects we've heard in a long time.  In the video below you'll hear from the man himself a lot of what went into the music, and the stories beyond the songs.  He goes on to explain details about the live show that he'll be taking all over before you know it, including a Toronto stop on January 22nd.  Beyond that we've got the EP for you to hear, and should you love it anywhere as much as we do get it free from AlvinRisk.com or from iTunes.  When Alvin Risk appears at the Hoxton on the 22nd, you know where we'll be.  Get your tickets here!
