TIME Festival: artist spotlight on Kaytranada

Kaytranada began his musical career at the age of fourteen when he took to djing.  Starting out with the name Kaytradamus he started producing music the year after, and in 2012 took the name we know so well.  As long as we can remember he's had an impeccable track record of choosing exciting tracks to work with, and creates a unique soulful sound defying the boundaries of hip hop, r&b, and electronic music.  From remixes of artists like TLC and Janet Jackson to original music and even production for artists like Mobb Deep.  There's really no telling what you'll get from a Kaytranada show, but we're excited to see what he brings to TIME Festival.  Get your tickets

Chet Faker: Talk Is Cheap (Kaytranada Flip)

A couple days ago Kaytranada posted this flip of Chet Faker's moody, beautiful 'Talk is Cheap'.  The track begins with an upbeat drum break, moves into the vocals that leave the listener with so much to think about, and then onwards into uncharted territory.  The track really does take on a whole new energetic feel on this one thanks to the Montreal producer.  Leaving the track largely instrumental with the hook included here and there offers a unique feel and really brings home the concept that talk is cheap.  Watch for Kaytranada appearing at the Time Festival at Fort York in Toronto with Grimes, Flume, and Action Bronson on July 19th.  Get your tickets here!

Mobb Deep: My Block prod. Kaytranada

Today the legendary Mobb Deep released a monumental album.  'The Infamous Mobb Deep' is an album that has been in the works for several years, and saw it's share of ups and downs in the process.  The record is a double album with one disc featuring unreleased songs from the sessions for their 1992 album, and one disc of entirely brand new music.  Upon discovering 'My Block' produced by Kaytranada we couldn't believe our ears... iTunes
