Sunday Movie 004: Planet Rock

Check this incredibly interesting documentary examining the parallels between the rap game and the crack game in the late 80s and early 90s in America. Narrated by Ice T featuring lots of crazy interviews with the likes of B Real, Raekwon, RZA, Snoop Dogg and so many more.  Plus, learn a little something about this "Rick Ross" character we don't stop hearing about nowadays.

Redefine HipHop: Operation LA Preview

It is always amazing to see one of our favorite hip hop camp's (and music in general) get shine.  The westcoast underground is a vast and somewhat under-appreciated hub for unprecedented innovation in beats and rhymes, including Project Blowed, Living Legends, Quannum, Hieroglyphics and so many more.  Check out the teaser for an upcoming doc with interviews from Kenny Segal, J Sumbi, Abstract Rude, Fatjack, Self Jupiter and more!

Photos: Black Milk live at The Great Hall Toronto, March 8, 2012

First off, thanks so much to eOne Music for letting us hit up this show, and thanks to Black Milk for letting us bring the camera.  We got there a little late and unfortunately missed the openers, who we were told were all dope.  Black Milk and his full band Nat Turner (Aaron “Ab” Abernathy – keys/vocals; Malik Hunter – bass; Zeb Horton – drums) cycled through more than a dozen tunes without taking a break.

The variety of flows in Black Milk's arsenal is nothing short of massive, and the whole band was fully into it, fully jamming to each tune.  Expect more and bigger things from this whole collective.  Enjoy our photos below and be sure to check the links.  Photos by A Mitchell.
