Late last night Black Scale released their Spring line for 2014. The San Francisco based label launched the collection online. The collection will be in stores next week, including the Black Scale stores in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and San Francisco. These designs are an inspiring evolution of what has made Black Scale an innovative, ever growing, and often imitated brand. As we've come to expect the range of designs goes from intricate patterns, to religious, occult, and even political images. These may not be for everyone, but they are central to the identity of Black Scale and to many are a welcome change from the pop culture images often found in street wear, or casual fashion. Whatever you choose to call it.
"We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light."
Black Scale began about six years ago when it's founder worked at the HUF store in San Francisco. Mega created a line of t-shirts and HUF founder Keith Hufnagel asked if there had ever been thought towards creating a brand.
Black Scale is based on four premises, also referred to as the Black Elements: religion, government, identity, and death. A tumblr account was recently launched, complete with photos of their fashion, interviews, and insight into what Black Scale is, how grew to this point, and some incredible music.
