21 Things That Make The WAYHOME Lineup GREAT

The Wayhome Festival lineup for 2017 was announced a couple of weeks ago, and the reactions were strong. Aside from the fact that more acts are still to be announced, many took to social media to express their displeasure with the bill.

There are a few things we think people should remember: first, Wayhome is not Lollapalooza. It's a lot closer to Sasquatch. Which is an amazing festival - one of the best actually. It's a bit smaller and the magnitude of superstar performers may not be what some people had hoped - especially after being treated to the likes of Neil Young, Kendrick, Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem over the last couple of years (to name a few).

It's also important to keep in mind that Wayhome goes late, and their will undoubtedly be someone amazing on during anyone you may not want to see. And that's where the rest of the lineup comes in.

The thing about it is, it's actually STACKED. And we can prove it - and not just with a 'top 5' - because you need to be busy the whole time! Here are 21 things that make Wayhome an essential festival to check out:

21. Constantines

These guys are legends. Any chance you get to see Constantines - take it. Your life will be better.

20. Frank Ocean

We've all been waiting a long time for anything from Frank! And now, we get a headline slot that is sure to be life changing.

19. The Drums

All of their music is great, but we couldn't be more excited for this new stuff.

18. Darcys

Darcys are the best. One of the coolest Canadian bands out - you'd be crazy to miss out on them!

17. Colony House

Their uplifting rock magic is perfect for any summer night. This will be awesome.

16. Margaret Glaspy

One of our favorite new finds (for us) on this lineup, we will be front and center for this one!

15. Hundred Waters

They make some of the most fascinating, lush and beautiful music around - they will be perfect at Wayhome.

Proving they thought of everything - including LOTS of super fresh R&B. Jahkoy is great!

13. Mura Masa

If you'd like to see into the future, post up at Mura Musa's stage. This will be huge.

12. Banks

One of the most exceptional performers and creators of dark, modern pop music - Banks is some you absolutely cannot miss.

11. Charles Bradley

We have seen this guy change the weather before. Charles Bradley is the perfect addition to any outdoor festival lineup.

10. The Shins

After all these years we still haven't had the pleasure of seeing these guys live, thanks to Wayhome - we are about to fix that.

9. Jagwar Ma

We can't imagine a better vibe than Australia's trailblazing Jagwar Ma on a hot August afternoon. This is a great booking right here.

8. Phantogram

Between two incredible LPs AND the Big Grams project with Big Boi of Outkast, Phantogram have pretty much been on FIRE for a long time now.

7. Andy Shauf

One of the best albums of 2016, we should all be so lucky to see this brilliant artist play it live. Can't wait for this one!

6. Schoolboy Q

There's nothing to not love about Schoolboy Q. The man is a beast of an mc and an elite live performer.

5. Danny Brown

4. PUP

If there was one thing missing from last year - it was PUP.

3. Tanya Tagaq

The brilliant artist and Inuit throat singer, we are on the edge of our seats from Tanya Tagaq's performance.

2. Justice

We have our fingers crossed that this will be a late night show - Justice live is utter insanity.

1. Solange

Her album is beyond incredible, we have a feeling this performance will be one of our favorite things of 2017.

For some time Maria Jose Govea (The Supermaniak) has been one of the foremost concert photographers.  She continues to surpise and inspire with her incredible work and contagious positivity.  She's recently started a Skillshare course to help photographers work in tough conditions, and if that's not enough, her work is being featured in a new show.  FSTVL SZN is brought to you by Nuvango, and it brings the work of the Supermaniak to life in a big way.  The photos will be on display from July 13th to September 3rd but the opening party will be too good to miss.

David Matisse of Keys and Krates will be curating and performing the music for the evening.  It's a perfect fit, to have such a unique company and two brilliant artists together for an unforgettable night.  Tickets are available here, and they're free!  See you July 13th!
