A Mindblowing Up Close Look At Honey Bees

This is fascinating, a must watch:

'Without bees, our food supply would be in danger. And our planet would never recover'.

Blockadia Rising: Voices of the Tar Sands (Documentary)

Here is something we watched recently, and it is nothing if not shocking.  Basically, it's about the pipeline that is being built to bring tar sands oil from Alberta, Canada to refineries near the Gulf of Mexico.  Everyone should consider watching this.

Calgary Folk Music Fest wins Greener Festival Award!

Festivals are the greatest, we all know that.  However they never come without their drawbacks, which can includes outrageous beverage prices, nasty bathrooms and more importantly, a huge amount of waste, infrequent cleanup and a negative environmental impact.

We've been to dozens of fests, and keeping the environmental impact thing in mind, some have been great and some have been terrible.  We were lucky enough to attend the Calgary Folk Fest this past year, and today it was announced that the fest won the Greener Festival Award for the second time!

From the press release:

"...The award recognizes the Festival’s work developing and implementing environmentally-conscious changes and improvements to the urban festival site with the goal to lessen the environmental impact to Prince’s Island Park and the global environment...Other festivals that received the award in 2012 include the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and Calgary’s own Sled Island Music Festival."

Congrats to the Calgary Folk Music Festival!  Can't wait to see everyone there next year!
