5 Things to Watch on (Canadian) Netflix Right Now:

Here's a few gems we've either stumbled across or revisited recently, and seeing as no one told us to watch them or not, we figured we would officially recommend these 5 non-obvious choices for your casual viewing. Enjoy.

5. Killing Them Softly

We had seen this one up there for a while, and can promise that it is as suspenseful as it is brutal.  Poor Marky.

4. One Week

Canadian gem Joshua Jackson goes on both a literal and a spiritual journey across Canada and discovers a whole lot.  Plus, there's lots of cameos from some of our favorites.

3. No No: A Dockumentary

The much hyped documentary about Pittsburg Pirates pitcher Dock Ellis.  This story takes you there and back again and will blow your mind, especially considering so many people now haven't even heard of him.

2. Take Shelter

A twisted and suspenseful thriller that features two of our favorites, Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon.  Truly a must see.

1. The Station Agent

Three folks become unlikely friends in a remote town despite the odds being against them.  Incredible performances from everyone in this one.

Giant tour and LOTS more from ODESZA!

These guys are doing it big, making so much great music and constantly one upping themselves and everyone else with new ideas and incredible methods for both making music and engaging with their fans.  Much respect Odesza!  Go see these chaps if you can!

Hot Docs Preview: On Her Own

Morgan Schmidt-Feng's 2015 film "On Her Own" is one of the many acclaimed films in this year's Hot Docs Film Festival.  It takes a good long look at the lives of Nancy Prebilich and her family.  The farm has been in the Prebilich family for 5 generations and with the sudden death of both parents, keeping it that way becomes a monumental challenge.  When the level of dedication to the work necessary becomes an issue, this stakes begin to rise and within their challenges we see those faced by farmers across North America.

"On Her Own" plays tonight at the ROM Cinema at 7 pm, at the TIFF Light Box on April 29th at 4:30 pm, and at the Scotia Bank Theatre on May 1 at 9:15 pm.  Tickets are available here.

Jack Beats: There and Now

Smirnoff Sound Collective brings you on a journey to Los Angeles to meet and learn a great deal from Jack Beats.  The There and Now series began with Zeds Dead, and has also included Tommy Trash and Bingo Players, but it's especially interesting to hear about the journey of Jack Beats.  The duo that began as a faceless entity, represented by the dripping heart has grown to new heights since relocating to Los Angeles and signing with OWSLA.  Check this out, and watch the rest of the series here!
