Photo of the day: Gordon Parks 1929 Self Portrait

Legendary photographer Gordon Parks poses for a self portrait in 1929, early in his career.  Parks rose to prominence as a documentary photographer focusing on racial injustice and social issues in the United States.  He went on to work with the American government, documenting poverty in the 1940's, exploring glamour photography, creating powerful photo essays for Life Magazine, and then took his talents to the world of film; directing the infamous ShaftFor more information on Gordon Parks' life or to see his work check out the Gordon Parks Foundation.
