Photo of the day: Gordon Parks 1929 Self Portrait

Legendary photographer Gordon Parks poses for a self portrait in 1929, early in his career.  Parks rose to prominence as a documentary photographer focusing on racial injustice and social issues in the United States.  He went on to work with the American government, documenting poverty in the 1940's, exploring glamour photography, creating powerful photo essays for Life Magazine, and then took his talents to the world of film; directing the infamous ShaftFor more information on Gordon Parks' life or to see his work check out the Gordon Parks Foundation.

Classic of the day: America - Today's The Day

America's 1976 album 'Hideaway' reached number 11 on the Billboard album charts.  The band teamed up with acclaimed Beatles producer George Martin for the album.  'Today's the Day' reached number 23 on the singles chart and was the last top 40 hit for the group as a trio.  The album cover for 'Hideaway' was done by Phil Hartman, often recognized for his later career as an actor.
