Astrocolor - Astrocolor EP

The Victoria, BC collective have released a sonic adventure based on their namesake, and in the same way, it is full of creative experimentation and undeniable talent. For those like us who are just now hearing about Astrocolor, this is a perfect introduction - which is to say, these three tracks make for a perfect ep that is sure to have you both up and moving and yearning for the full length record slated for a 2017 release (both on Last Gang!).

As far as the music is concerned, expect uplifting, complex but undeniably easy to love and enjoy cosmic disco house funk goodness. You could play this at your cousin's wedding and everyone would lose their minds. You could play this at your TD Bank Christmas party and the place would go nuts. We would be willing to bet money on that.

This music is for everyone. So everyone should listen to it.

Astrocolor have a keen ability to blaze a new trail amongst a surplus of art and culture. What they are doing is both beautifully modern and gloriously traditional. It's simple, but it's full of complex layers at the same time. We will bother our friends to get into Astrocolor for the rest of our lives.

We hope you enjoy as much as we do!

Global Underground: Nubreed 9 - Habischman

Sometimes you just need to zone in, get out, move on - go crazy, and just do your own uninterrupted thing for a couple hours. Maybe more.

This mix from producer and selector Habischman is the perfect opportunity to treat yourself to a sonic adventure in modern electronic goodness, and once you start, you will definitely not look back.

This is by no means a linear 4/4 techy house collection - like we said before, this is a sonic adventure and it will absolutely keep you guessing throughout. The energy is one thing that stays constant to the end - no matter the vibe, Habischman's selections and flawless mixing will keep you fully engaged, focused and in the zone.

We managed to get a TON of work done while listening to this Global Underground mix, but it could also be key for the following:

An instant dance party, an important and awesome roadtrip, the mother of all hikes, getting a million and one things done, and really anything that requires some focus and would benefit from an absolutely mindblowing soundtrack.

This is your soundtrack.

Jackmaster DJ-Kicks

This is just so exciting. Every time we get a DJ Kicks in our inbox we jump for joy - but sometimes we are so amped the anticipation is the real deal. Jackmaster is what they call a DJ's DJ. He's fucking awesome. His brain is an endless arsenal of tunes and tempos and ideas and routines and his ability to convert that into a life changing selection of seamlessly blended tracks is nothing short of world renowned.

His mix starts out with some leftfield ambient goodness to set the stage sonically, but before you know it he's off to the races. He plays a million different styles, and you don't even notice the changes because you are way too busy having a great time. Whether you're driving, biking, running, by the pool, working, making soup, whatever it is you're doing - you will get completely lost in this mix. And once you're done you won't be able to wait to play it again. And it's gonna be like that forever.

You're life will be different now. In the best way.

Another thing that makes this guy a master of his craft is that - he knows all of your favorite songs, even if you don't know them yet. You will find yourself scouring this tracklist, and trust us, it is FULL of wonderful selections.

Go here to grab it, and listen to the whole mix now!

Taiki Nulight - Into Darkness EP

This is another one that's been sitting in our inbox for TOO long. But it's almost getting better with age. It's got a cutting edge bass vibe that blows our minds as much as it did when it was released last year on Dim Mak. There is a school of thought that says it's harder and harder to stand out in electronic music. That many are bringing sand to the beach. Taiki Nulight has nothing to worry about. Taiki Nulight is bringing loud, innovative, upbeat bass music to the beach. And everywhere else for that matter.

Starting off with a tropical twist on 'Into Darkness' and getting more into a Trouble & Bass or Jack Beats vibe on 'Creed' - this EP is right up our alley from the jump. It hits hard, and is somehow both no-nonsense and fun as hell at the exact same time. That's pretty impressive if you think about it.

The rest of the EP continues with unique, energetic dance music that will have your body moving instantly and right up until the end. Enjoy!

Kowton 'Utility'

Kowton, the outrageously talented producer and co-founder the label Livity Sound dropped an album called 'Utility' last month. All techno, house and weird dance and headphone music fans should rejoice - because this album is nothing but bangers. Not bangers in a hip hop way, or even in an electro house big room noise fest sort of way. Kowton has made a collection of housey techno experimental titans that will move any dance floor beyond recognition and motivate you to be better than you were at whatever it is that you're doing.

We have to stress that you need to play this loud or on headphones - you really want to literally feel this music. And we promise you will. Do yourself a favor and if you have the luxury of listening to this on something better than Macbook speakers, do so. You will thank yourself right away.

This dark, energetic collection of low end jams is nothing short of incredible. If you're a dj, you need this. If you're a creative type and you like music to work to, this will be perfect. You might however want to check with your doctor before you listen to 'Utility' at the gym. It is seriously that intense and awesome.
